RTE reports that the Touhou series creator and his studio are targeting a whopping $1.2bn in total sales within a year of launch.
“Touhou Project” was launched in Japan last year and the first volume of the game, titled Touhou, is currently available on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
According to publisher Daisuke Wakabayashi, the total sales of the new game will be $1,500 million.
“We’re aiming to reach a billion dollars worldwide within three years,” Wakabate says.
“With a few extra months we can add on to that.
There are lots of things that can happen in the future.”
The publisher says that the total market for Touhou will be about 10 million to 15 million people, which is a huge amount of people.
“It’s a big hit.
It’s a lot of people that have seen Touhou before and they love it,” he says.
The developer says that it is also aiming to sell millions of copies of the games “Touken” and “Sonic the Hedgehog”.
Touhouture is due out on both PS3 and PS Vita this summer.
