The project to build the world’s tallest building in Melbourne is to be completed by 2019, a month ahead of schedule.

The project, which is funded largely by the $2 billion National Infrastructure Protection Fund, will be the brain child of Dr Steve Wilson, who is building the building on the same site.
Mr Wilson said the project was one of the “greatest architectural engineering achievements” in the history of the state.
“We are absolutely delighted that this landmark project will finally be completed and be one of Australia’s premier institutions,” he said.
“The project was designed to provide a high-quality and internationally-acclaimed education facility for the Australian people.”
The project includes construction of a three storey tower to house a research and medical centre, a medical campus, a hotel and a high performance centre.
Mr Cameron said it would be “an amazing piece of infrastructure”.
“It will be an exceptional addition to the Melbourne skyline,” he added.
“It is also the only building of its kind in the world to be built entirely from scratch.”
Mr Cameron praised the project for being “an extraordinary undertaking” and said it represented “the next stage of a long-term commitment to our city”.
“The Government has invested heavily in the project, and the construction is now on schedule and on budget,” he noted.
“As the project enters its next phase, I look forward to welcoming more visitors to the city through the building.”
Construction on Darwin will begin by 2019.
The $1,000,000 project was originally scheduled to be finished in 2018, but it has been pushed back to 2019.
“Today’s announcement will see the completion of this project in 2019,” Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said.
