A new rail line for the New York City borough of Brooklyn is nearing completion.
Construction is expected to start in 2020, with a second phase expected to open in 2022.
The $2.4 billion project is the first of its kind in the US, and will be used for mass transit between Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Construction has been underway for more than a decade, and the Brooklyn Bridge, the world’s longest bridge, is the only other crossing between the two boroughs.
Construction of the project has been plagued by delays, including a partial closure in December 2016 due to Hurricane Sandy.
The project was supposed to open to the public in 2018.
The Brooklyn Bridge opened to the world in 2018, and has been a major tourist attraction for nearly a decade.
